Rootd Aventures: Case Study
Glamping Equipment Finance
When Rootd launched in early 2024, they had big dreams. This included building their own onsite pod accommodation to enhance the school residential experience. After initially relying on rented pods, they knew from firsthand experience how much children enjoyed the sense of adventure and freedom they offered. But, they also knew that taking the leap into owning and installing their own pods would require financial backing that felt out of reach.
Rootd reached out to us after searching for funding providers, noting that GTF Event Equipment really understands the events and outdoor education space. We quickly recognised the potential of their concept and the passion behind it. Within two weeks of our first conversation, we were sitting down in their Harpenden office to learn more.
At GTF, we believe finance should serve the mission, not the other way around. That’s why our first step was to listen closely to Rootd’s goals and business plan. We spent time understanding the impact a pod village could have, from student wellbeing to school engagement to business sustainability. Their vision was compelling.
Following our meeting, we knew this was a project we wanted to support. We worked closely with Rootd and our panel of lenders to structure a flexible equipment finance package that would allow them to select high-quality pods and equipment as well be the most appropriate funding solution for a new-start business such as Rootd. Once the agreement was finalised, Rootd began building their village at their Hertfordshire centre in early 2025.
“We’re thrilled with how well the pod village has been received so far. It’s been a fantastic addition to our camp, and we can’t wait to host more residential school trips in the future.
We’re eternally grateful for the support Neil has given us, both financially and as a mentor. His ongoing advice and belief in the business has been invaluable. We couldn’t have achieved so much, so quickly without his belief in our vision.” – the Rootd team.

In April, Year 3 pupils from St Martin’s School in Northwood became the first school group to stay. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
The children loved the unique and spacious accommodation, while teachers appreciated the extra comfort and practicality the pods provided. Since then, Rootd has enjoyed a 100% rebooking rate for pod stays – a testament to the success of the investment.
At GTF, we’re incredibly proud to have played a part in turning Rootd’s vision into reality. Their pod village is more than just a group of structures. It’s an environment that fosters adventure, learning, and lasting memories for children across the UK
Beyond finance, our work with Rootd has developed into a partnership. We continue to support them not just as funders, but as mentors and strategic allies as they look toward future expansion.
